If people want to waste their hard earned money on stuff as useless as virutal video game items then let them. It's their loss.

I don't see what's sad about this, he/she is only selling on his/her copy of the game. If that version actually is in such high demand as he/she claims then he/she is actually doing someone a favour.
What's bad is when people start charging real world money to trade in-game items.

I think the poster meant that the pre-order box was mistaken for the retail-game box: people bought this because they expected the real game.

there are some people who think that that preorder bow is going to be an uber special item and are willing to pay real cash to get it.

Oh, I dunno, I'd part with a couple of bucks to further my special items collection, even if I never used it, just for the sake of collecting. Not $51, though...

nah... I think we should punish them more. Ignorant people need to be punished for being ignorant more than their sheer ignorance would punish them by itself.

The bow I have now, when used without any nature rituals, magic or whatnot, deals roughly 25-30 per hit. When used in conjunction with the favorable winds thing (ranger skill) in conjunction with my attrib point allocation, I am dealing about 80-86 PER HIT. I have no colors on my bow, just some dumbass charr chaot dropped it. It has no special qualities whatsoever.
Therefore, if you go online to buy an item out-of-game, more power to ya, I simply don't need it. It seems...kinda stupid to pay nearly $12.00 in cash over the net for what dropped at my lovely booted feet for killing something that was in my way....

People have bought stupider stuff on eBay. For example, one guy in Galveston (southern Texas) sold a snowball from the rare snowfall they had last Christmas (I forget what he got for it, though, but IIRC, it was a lot more than 50$). Some people just have a lot of money and don't know what to spend it on.

One of my girl friends sold a Barbie Dream House for over a grand. If you really want to see dumb, try to find an auction for those potato chips with stars in the middle.
If you play paintball, you have probably seen the auctions for the boxes...
